Before I jump into how Honor Pet is doing death differently, I wanted to share a little bit about my path in pet end-of-life care. In 2012, I started on a journey to elevate end-of-life care in veterinary medicine with a mission to bring services into a specialty hospital setting. I lived it, breathed it, and became an advocate for advancing the field. That dream was realized in 2020 when my practice was acquired by BluePearl Specialty Hospital, and I was tasked with expanding hospice services nationwide. With my mission accomplished, I retired in 2023, ready to embrace a slower lifestyle and become a goat farmer, beekeeper, and pottery enthusiast. Well, so I thought, anyway…

Shortly after hanging up my hospice hat, I met my (now) co-founders, who had an idea that had already been brewing in my brain for a decade: to build a pet crematorium focused on experiences and sustainability. Retirement lasted all of one month—I was in.

As we developed our vision, I shared: "Why stop at 'just' pet cremation services when we can provide a service that people will actually want to talk about?" I mean, I get it—death is a tough topic, but it doesn't have to be cloaked in a rain-cloud vibe with somber imagery. I wanted to bring a fresh narrative to the discussion, and instead, focus on celebrating the amazing life lived. Yes, saying goodbye is hard, but by shifting the focus, maybe we could make talking about pet euthanasia a little less scary and a lot more meaningful. This led to the creation of our Comfort Center—a serene place for final goodbyes as an alternative to busy vet clinics or more costly in-home euthanasia services.

And similar to how we didn’t want to offer “just” pet cremation, we also didn’t want to “just” be a euthanasia provider. When considering our Comfort Center, I asked, "What would I want for my own pet? How would I want those final moments to feel, knowing there's no second chance to make it as perfect as it can be?"

With Honor Pet, that dream became a reality and we're shaking things up by doing death differently. For over a decade, I've been mentally building this vision—collecting ideas to create truly unique moments to make sure your pet's end-of-life care and experiences are as meaningful as the life lived.

We literally obsess over every. single. detail., no matter how small.

We are a place where you and your pet become our sole focus and every intentional gesture is catered to your needs. Want a champagne toast to say goodbye? Done. Need a calming, nature-inspired space? We've got you covered. And my favorite: You can create a bouquet from our fresh flower stand and write a private message using our in-room art supplies that can stay with your pet through the cremation process, so a piece of you will always be with them.

For us, no detail is too small, and no request is too big. We’re honored to share what we've built—a place that turns end of life into a personalized, heartfelt tribute rather than a somber farewell. A place where every detail is about celebrating your pet's unique story, where the vibe is more about gratitude and less about grief. You see, Honor Pet isn't just a place to say goodbye, it’s an experience.
